Hello, everyone! It’s been a long time since our last blog post. We’ve been busy with preparation for the new school year and a family visit. Our apologies for taking such a long time.<\/p>\n

April is when everything starts in Japan: new employees begin work, the new school year starts and we have new programs starting on TV and the radio.<\/p>\n
Today we would like to introduce three English learning programs on NHK.<\/p>\n
It’s a great time to start watching\/listening to those shows since they all start from the basics and explain how the programs\u00a0 work.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
First and our favorite is Kiso Eigo for Business People<\/a>.<\/p>\n When we channel-surf and come across this program, we always end up watching it till the end. In the program, Akinobu Shinoyama is the only one who doesn’t know the script and has to improvise his lines according to what his co-workers tell him in business situations. Sometimes Akinobu panics or struggles to respond in English and you can totally feel his pain as an English learner. It’s also good practice to think about what you would say if you were in his shoes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Do you think business English is too difficult? Don’t worry! There’s a basic English conversation program called “Radio English Conversation<\/a>.”<\/p>\n It’s a 15-minute-long radio show where they\u00a0 introduce expressions in daily conversation. It’s a great way to increase your vocabulary, improve your listening, and exercise your pronunciation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you are looking for a program to improvise your English like Kiso Eigo for Business People, We recommend Eikaiwa Time Trial<\/a> on NHK Radio 2. This program helps you practice making English sentences quickly. In every episode, they give you expressions in Japanese and ask you how you would say those in English first, and then introduce correct English expressions after. This way, you learn the language\u00a0 very actively. If you like being challenged, you will have fun studying with this show. Plus, it’s only 10 minutes!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As we always tell you, the more you are exposed to English, the more likely your English becomes better. Why don’t you find 10 or 15 minutes somewhere in your day and use it for your English study? If you start this week, you won’t miss the first week of those shows. If you want to study using the radio, you can go to their websites and find episodes from the previous week.
