I am happy to report that I finally received the Elementary School English Teaching License from J-SHINE!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You are probably wondering what J-SHINE is and why I decided to get this license.<\/p>\n

J-SHINE is an NPO organization that certifies English educators to support the dissemination and development of English education in elementary school.<\/p>\n

And the reason I decided to study to get the license was that I thought I needed to know more about what is going on in the school system to maximize our studetns’ improvent in English learning, especially now that writing and speaking skills are going to be integrated in university entrance exams in 2020.<\/p>\n

In order to get a recommendation to apply for the license, I finished a correspondence course and a 2 days long seminar. I started the course in July last year, went to Tokyo to participate in the seminar, and finally finished the course in May! ( The course was supposed to be finished in 6 months, but I couldn’t do that while I was working full time at the school… So, I paid a little extra and extended my study time \u00a0^^;)<\/p>\n

I probably won’t be able to teach at elementary school given that I’m already busy here at Open Sesame English School, but taking the course definitely helped me catch up with current trends in English education in Japan and made me notice the challenges that need to be overcome in the future.<\/p>\n
